The following passages are from two inaugural poems.  The first is Maya Angelou's "On The Pulse Of Morning," which Angelou read as part of Bill Clinton's inauguration in 1993.  (When I was your age, coincidentally.) The second is Amanda Gorman's "The Hill We Climb," which Gorman recited at President Biden's inauguration on January 21, 2021.  Both authors are black women.

We will learn more about these poems and poets next week.

Inaugural poem= A poem read at a new president's inauguration, the ceremony that marks a president's first day on the job after a presidential election.
